Alright, I get it, I suck! How can we honestly have these interviews in the can and yet not post them? Is it life? Work? Women? Stomach Flu? Probably not. I just can’t think of new and funny stuff to write. So I bail.

Regardless, we soldier on like soldiers soldiering through something. This week we have our friendly little brothers Fake Problems on the show. We spoke with these kids a while back but figure that after a full length and a 7” release since we last spoke it would be a good idea to touch base. We spoke with guitarist/vocalist Chris and guitarist/owner of Good Friends Records, Casey. These kids have a future so bright they gotta wear shades (or is that to hide the red eyes?) and it doesn’t hurt that Chris dresses like a tiny Mr. Rogers.

It’s true. I’ve finally run out of witty banter for these intros. Well, this one at least. Maybe it’s the weather. Maybe it’s just the sheer number we’ve done. Maybe it’s the fact that I feel crippled by two straight days of diarrhea that can only be described as “godless”.
Yeah, probably that last one.

So, here’s the facts. We sat down (or stood) with Rick of This is Hell for an interview all about the band. Rick is a rad dude and is super informative about the bands history and their recent work. It’s a good interview (on his end at least). Welcome back. We thought we’d pull a little April Fools joke and not post last week. YOU TOTALLY FELL FOR IT! Oh man, the look on your face was priceless. Like that time in Michigan where we all passed out after the Journey reunion concert and you woke up as Donny was teabagging you. Just like that.

Well we followed up that joke with a new joke, our terrible interviews! Well, the subject (Ray of the magnanimous Teenage Bottlerocket) is funny and good, but I’d venture to say we’re at a low point on our end. Not to mention we included bearded sheep merchant Justin, of Punknews.org. Guy sounds like Artie Lang if he were mentally challenged and raised by the cast of The Hills Have Eyes, he’s also considered a sex symbol in no less than a dozen third world countries.

We’re back! Sound the trumpets. Ring the gongs. Paint the fences. Whatever you do to celebrate do it, because this shit is off the hinges. We’re back after two months of bullshit so that we could bring you some totally fantastic interviews.
Leading off the charge are some hardcore kids who make up a band called Ruiner. These guys play a style of hardcore that, while not groundbreaking, is super intense and amazingly catchy. They may only have one full length under their belt (and it’s barely a full length) but they rock like veterans. So listen, enjoy and rock out like you’re in Nam.

How awesome are we at staying on schedule? The answer, not at all. Sorry, but with all the writers on strike I’ve been taking my time to put together a new script for a zany sitcom. I don’t want to reveal too much but let’s just say it will be a mix of Homeboys in Outer space and Laugh In. Expect big things.

In other (no scab) news we got to sit down with Chris and Brett of the band Last of the Believers. If the names sound familiar it’s probably because Chris and Brett are common names. However, it’s also because Chris used to be in Rise Against and Brett currently basses for Ignite. So trust me when I say Last of the Believers have a pedigree you need to hear to truly appreciate.

Sorry, Sorry, Sorry, sorry. Well, not really but I feel bad because life must have sucked while we were gone. These boys hail from New Jersey and play awesome rock songs with heart, feeling, love and enough balls to make even your slutty grandma happy. If you don’t know who the Lawrence Arms are by now I highly suggest you Google the city of Chicago and filter through the stories until you find them, go ahead, we’ll wait…So sit back and enjoy the tasty goodness as Chris, Brendan and Neil talk about Cornish Gay Men, concept albums, and why Brendan took the mic into the toilet during the interview. Interviews at Warped Tour 2007 (Part 1) - Podcast 61

So, a week back into shows and it seems like my writer’s block has cleared up, yah! Unfortunately, you now have to (well I guess not “have to” but you should) listen to what is now known as “The Warped Tour shit-fest!”. Not that I have anything against the Warped Tour, I mean we had to apply for press Pass, which in and of itself is 90% more work than we normally do. So we had to want to get in. However, once inside the Warped Tour press tent, we entered a land where time and space functioned in odd, unexplainable ways. A world where Big D and the Kids Table weren’t listed on the interview schedule, but you could interview them if you asked the press lady about it. A world where that same press lady would continually feed you band after band of crap that you didn’t request and you didn’t know a thing about. In short, a world gone mad.

So out of the three interviews we wanted we got one. Still, we left with 7 interviews, that’s 6 whole interviews filled with bands we don’t know and people we don’t know what to ask. So sit back and enjoy the awkwardness of entire interviews where I avoid asking bands about their music, because I don’t know anything about them.

As far as contests go, we’re not going to ask bands on Warped Tour, making no money, to give us free shit. Sorry, but we’re not total assholes. But stay tuned for some real contests coming up soon. I want to first and foremost take a second to say we will be out of internet for a couple of weeks. We should be back late May or early June but for now Sound Guy Nariman and myself are going to take some time to drink fruity drinks and do manly stuff. Secondly, we’d like to thank all of the people who have taken time to write us, enter contests and just listen to the show. We love doing this dumb show and we love it even more that people listen and it absolutely blows our minds that people like it…I figure 90% of the interest is due to Chicken and Brendan Kelly but we appreciate the love.

Interview with Love Me Destroyer - Podcast 53

We kind of fell off the face of the earth for a little while so let me explain…We totally suck. Actually, we just wanted to make sure we had some good shows lined up. We hate taking weeks off as much as you hate late updates. The only thing we hate more than late shows is doing a show half assed. So, instead we opted to take a few weeks off, gather up some shows so this way we have a little buffer so we don’t need to fall behind or simply slap together a show with some shit band.

To usher in our triumphant return we are bringing you a great interview and contest. The band is none other than Denver, Colorado’s best punk band of 2005, Love Me Destroyer (last years award went to Prince, go figure). If you’re not familiar with Love Me Destroyer, you should be. They play a great blend of technical and melodic hard rock and they write a fucking killer power ballad.

We sat down with Scooter, Ryan and Cody to discuss their new album, Guitar Hero II, The Departed, threesomes with black chicks and trying new things with dudes. If you think you misread any of that, you didn’t, it’s just that crazy. This interview is equal parts hilarity, informational and offensive. It’s like a naked potato sack race with the guys from NPR.

If that’s not enough to get you to listen, Suburban Home Records has hooked us up, again, with crazy shit to give away. We’re talking CD’s, pint glasses and all sorts of good shit.

Interview with Defiance, Ohio - Podcast 52

I’m at the job so I’ll keep this short (updating your blog is apparently only a small step up from looking at porn on the clock, according to company policy). This week we have a couple of special surprises. First, we have a rocking guest by the name of Geoff from Defiance, Ohio. They’re a super awesome band that blends elements of folk and punk(ya know, folk-punk). If that doesn’t do it for you picture Against Me!, This Bike is a Pipe Bomb, Woody Guthrie and four dudes who haven’t showered in a while playing beach volleyball in the middle of October on some far off frozen tundra that is only inhabited by an indigenous population of crab people, while the soundtrack to The Sound of Music plays in the background and a team of Iron Chefs prepare a meal for the Grand Wizard of the Klu Klux Klan using the secret ingredient of teeth pulled from the infant mouth of the Siberian White Tiger. Ya know something like that.

No matter what you compare them to Defiance, Ohio is one thing, good! And to add to this weeks goodness we have a special guest interviewer, Justin from Punknews.org . Unlike all the other times where he just chimes in with a question or two Justin actually takes the helm for this interview and steers this sinking ship of a podcast right into the coast of awesomeness! Of course this journey did take some 50 minutes so Sound Guy Nariman edged it down a bit for posting, but the full sized one should be up at sometime.

FINALLY: we wrap up our contests for Only Crime, New Mexican Disaster Squad and Drag the River this week. Thanks to everyone who entered, be sure to listen to see if you won.
